Sebastian Vettel has insisted that he is pleased with his third-placed finish in qualifying for Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix.

The defending champion will start the race ahead of Red Bull teammate Mark Webber, while Mercedes pair Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton occupy the front of the grid.

"I was very close," Vettel is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "Mercedes were very quick all weekend.

"But I am very happy there is not a Ferrari or Lotus ahead and I think we have a good chance tomorrow to win the race."

Last year's race in Monte Carlo was won by Mark Webber.
