Sebastian Vettel finishes ahead of Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso in the first practice session ahead of the season-opening Grand Prix in Australia.

World champion Sebastian Vettel has gone quickest in the first practice session ahead of the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.

The Red Bull driver finished 0.078 seconds ahead of Ferrari's Felipe Massa at Albert Park.

The Brazilian's teammate Fernando Alonso coming in third fastest, while Lewis Hamilton got his new Mercedes car into the garage with the fourth-fastest time.

He came in just ahead of Mark Webber, with Nico Rosberg and Adrian Sutil behind the Australian.

The McLaren duo of Jenson Button and Sergio Perez could only manage ninth and 11th respectively.
