Jean-Eric Vergne 'disappointed' at missing out on Red Bull

Jean Eric Vergne reveals that losing out on a drive at Red Bull was a "big disappointment".

Jean-Eric Vergne has revealed that Red Bull's decision to promote Daniel Ricciardo over himself was a "big disappointment".

Australian Ricciardo was promoted from the constructor's junior team Toro Rosso to replace compatriot Mark Webber from the start of next season, and the Frenchman told the Toro Rosso website that he is looking to move on now that the choice has been made.

"I can honestly say I'm happy for Daniel. Not crazy happy obviously, but I've said previously that if he gets the seat it will be a good thing because it confirms the value of Red Bull's Junior Team," he said.

"The fact is, he has a bit more experience and he's done a better job in qualifying. However, deep inside I know that we have always been really evenly matched and that's the positive I take from it."

Vergne made his Formula 1 debut at last year's Australian Grand Prix.
