Georgia Hall two shots off the lead after second round of Evian Championship

The Women's British Open winner is in contention again at a major.

England's Georgia Hall is two shots off the lead of the Evian Championship after carding a second straight round of 68 at the final major of the season.

The Women's British Open winner had four birdies and one bogey to match her first-round score and remains firmly in contention to win back-to-back majors.

Hall is in a tie for sixth, two strokes behind the lead jointly held by American duo Amy Olson and Mo Martin, Puerto Rico's Maria Torres and Korean Lee Mi-hyang, who eagled the ninth to join the others on eight under.

Torres had shared the overnight lead with Spain's Carlota Ciganda, who sits along in fifth place after a round of 70.

Hall, starting on the back nine in France, bogeyed the 12th hole but recovered with birdies on the par-three 14th and eighth, as well as the par-four 17th and third.

"My long game was really good today," Hall said. "I just couldn't really hole that many putts so that was a little bit frustrating. But I holed some good ones as well so I'm happy.

"I've worked quite a bit on my putting a chipping. I chipped well today. I didn't really miss that many greens. I holed some good putts today, some long ones, but I missed a couple for birdies."

Asked if it felt different to be playing as a major winner, Hall added: "Just a bit more confidence. Apart from that, I still feel the same."

Olson set the pace for the day with a round of 65, recording seven birdies and one bogey to move up the leaderboard.

Torres had carded a 65 on Thursday but suffered a little more on Friday as she went round in 69 with bogeys on the 10th and 11th holes.

Like Torres, Ciganda could not match her opening effort with two bogeys leaving her one shot off the lead.
