Rory McIlroy: 'I could have gone lower'

World number three Rory McIlroy insists that he could have shot lower than his score of 65 in the third round of the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

Rory McIlroy has revealed that he was slightly frustrated with his third-round score of 65 at the DP World Tour Championship.

The world number three sits one shot behind leader Andy Sullivan after his seven-under-par round, but while he is happy with his current position, he has insisted that he could have recorded a better score.

The 26-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "You can't walk off this golf course having shot seven under and not feel too good about yourself but I felt like the round could have been a lot better.

"But I'm playing lovely and I'm in the position where I want to be going into tomorrow."

McIlroy will win the season-long Race to Dubai crown providing that he finishes ahead of Danny Willett, and Justin Rose does not claim a top-two place.
