Angel Cabrera was joined by Martin Flores at the top of the leaderboard on day two of the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow.
Cabrera was unable to match his opening round of 66 with a second attempt around the course, but he completed 18 holes three-under-par to ensure he remains one of the favourites heading into the weekend.
The Argentine is level with Flores, who climbed to nine-under for the tournament thanks to a couple of birdies late in his round of 68.
Justin Rose finished the day just one shot behind the leaders as he benefited from a round which included just one bogey, while an eye-catching eagle on the 15th helped the US Open champion in his trip up the leaderboard.
Shawn Stefani and JB Holmes head into the weekend on seven-under ahead of former world number one Martin Kaymer, who is alongside a group of players one shot further back.
