Miguel Angel Jimenez has opened with a six-under-par 64 to take the lead at the KLM Open in Zandvoort.
The Spaniard carded eight birdies on his first round at Kennemer Golf & Country Club, but bogeys at six and 10 saw mean that he is just one ahead of a chasing pack of six.
Those in pursuit are Gary Orr, Pablo Larrazabal, Fabrizio Zanotti, Roberto Allenby, Damien McGrane and David Howell.
Sweden's Oscar Floren is in eighth on four-under, while Tom Lewis, Simon Khan and Oliver Fisher are among a 10-strong group on three-under-par.
Meanwhile, Thomas Levet (+1), Padraig Harrington (+1), Alvaro Quiros (+2) and Thorbjorn Olesen (+3) are all flirting with the cut, which is currently projected at even-par.
