Li Haotong triumphs on home soil at Volvo China Open

World number 237 Li Haotong overcomes a two-shot deficit to win the Volvo China Open by three strokes in Beijing.

A flawless final round of 64 saw Li Haotong claim the Volvo China Open title in Beijing this morning.

Li started the last day two shots adrift of the lead, which was jointly held by Felipe Aguilar and Lucas Bjerregaard.

However, birdies at the third, fifth, seventh, eighth, 10th and 11th holes drew the 20-year-old level with Aguilar, who by that point was the sole frontrunner.

Then, Aguilar double bogeyed on the 16th hole, which all but handed the trophy to world number 237 Li.

Another birdie followed on the 17th hole to stretch Li's advantage even further, before a par completed the triumph by a three-shot margin.

Chile's Aguilar held on for second spot, while Englishman Richard Bland nabbed a share of third place.
