Nick Watney has admitted that he is feeling the pressure of trying to secure a spot in the American Ryder Cup team.
The 31-year-old will compete at the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston this week, with American captain Davis Love III to confirm his final four picks following the tournament.
Watney has revealed that the competition has become more of a priority to him recently after a disappointing start to the season.
"I obviously would love to be on the team," Watney said. "I haven't performed how I would have liked this year as far as making that team but it's out of my control, so all I can do is try to get ready to play next week and see where the chips fall.
"Someone told me that Davis said he wanted a hot player, and we still have a week to go, but like I said, I'd love to be on the team."
If Watney is included in the American team, it will be his first appearance in the competition.
