Bubba Watson among leaders at The Barclays

Bubba Watson is one of four leaders at The Barclays in New Jersey following a first-round 65 as he sits on five-under-par, but Jordan Spieth falters.

Bubba Watson and three others posted a productive first-round 65 at The Barclays tonight as four players lead the way in New Jersey.

Edison played host as the two-time Masters champion was making light work of the field in a red-hot inward nine, encompassing five birdies, but two bogeys on the front nine stifled his progress somewhat.

Watson, whose last PGA Tour title came in June after winning the Travelers Championship, sits on five-under-par after day one, level with Spencer Levin, Camilo Villegas and Tony Finau.

England's Paul Casey - whom Watson beat in a playoff to clinch that win earlier in the summer - and Scot Russell Knox are two of six players one stroke back on four-under.

Meanwhile, world number one Jordan Spieth, who won two of the four Majors in 2015, registered his worst round of the year with a four-over-par 74.
