Ernie Els talks Hong Kong Open lead, Miguel Angel Jimenez misses cut

Ernie Els takes a two-shot lead at the Hong Kong Open following a second-round 65, while defending champion Miguel Angel Jimenez misses the cut.

Ernie Els has taken a two-shot lead at the Hong Kong Open following a second-round 65 in Fanling, while defending champion Miguel Angel Jimenez has missed the cut.

Els carded a nine-under round after hitting two early birdies and recovered from a fourth-hole bogey to score a further four birdies on the back nine.

Yesterday's leader Jyoti Randhawa dropped four shots following a disappointing round, which included a double bogey on the 14th hole.

France's Raphael Jacquelin sits seven-under heading into the weekend's action, but there will be no place for Jimenez after he finished three shots below the cutoff point with a second-round 70, despite hitting an eagle on the 13th.
