Bubba Watson upbeat after US Open disappointment

Bubba Watson is confident that he can get back to his best at the Travelers Championship after missing the US Open cut.

Bubba Watson has claimed that he will not allow his US Open disappointment to affect him as he prepares for the Travelers Championship.

A second round of 77 at Chambers Bay ensured that Watson missed a cut for the first time this year, but he is confident of getting back to his best form at the scene of his first PGA Tour triumph.

"My whole goal this year was not to miss a cut, and that kind of backfired last week," the world number five told reporters. "Last week I played really nicely. Just the ball bounces one way or ball bounces the other way. Mine chose to bounce the other way. I mean, that's just how it is. That's golf.

"I don't have a win in the calendar year. So I need a win, and I need to make the Presidents Cup team. That would make it a good year.

"Hopefully we'll see some red numbers go up by me and just make me feel better and have a good chance on Sunday to go for the win."

Watson's last win came at the WGC-HSBC Champions in November.
