Dustin Johnson has reached the halfway stage of his US Open campaign on four-under-par and with a share of the lead as players continue to try to get back on schedule after Thursday's rain delays.
The world number six backed up his opening-round 67 with another solid 18 holes late on Friday to end the day alongside Andrew Landry, who is still to start his second round.
Lee Westwood remains third but is also yet to begin his second round, but Scott Piercy and Sergio Garcia are well placed after completing 36 holes just two shots adrift of Johnson.
American Daniel Summerhays and Englishman Andy Sullivan are through their second round on one-under-par, while Lee Slattery is in a tie for 14th place after a second-round 68 brought him into contention.
World number one Jason Day must finish strongly on Saturday morning to make the cut after reaching five-over-par through 15 holes of his second round.
