Arizona Cardinals' Jonathan Dwyer arrested on suspicion of domestic violence

Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer is arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault involving a woman and an 18-month-old child.

Jonathan Dwyer has become the latest NFL player in trouble with the law after the Arizona Cardinals running back was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence.

The 25-year-old has been suspended from the team while he faces charges of aggravated assault and preventing someone from calling 911.

Phoenix Police Sergeant Trent Crump has confirmed that the authorities were called to Dwyer's home on July 21 after neighbours reported a row.

It is alleged that the sportsman 'caused a fracture' against a 27-year-old woman and the next day, threw a shoe at the couple's 18-month-old child.

The news comes after Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was suspended indefinitely by the NFL after CCTV footage emerged of him knocking out his then-fiancee in a casino lift.

In addition, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has been suspended due to an ongoing child abuse case against the NFL player.
