Arsenal make Twitter blunder by posting wrong date of 1970s win

Arsenal were corrected by one of their supporters when they posted a tweet naming the wrong date for when they won silverware back in the 1970s.

The Gunners' official Twitter page claimed that on this day, April 22, Arsenal clinched the old Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.

However, fellow social media user @MickTheGooner responded to Arsenal's tweet by pointing out that the club in fact lost the first match of their two-legged final against Anderlecht on that date.

@Arsenal No we didn't, we lost the first-leg 3-1 on this day.

Arsenal, who have not won a trophy for nine years, deleted the original post.
