Report: Petr Cech subjected to death threats after Arsenal switch

Petr Cech is reportedly subjected to death threats on social media from purported Chelsea fans following the goalkeeper's switch to Arsenal.

Petr Cech has reportedly received death threats on social media from purported Chelsea fans following the goalkeeper's switch to Arsenal.

The 33-year-old made almost 500 appearances for the Blues following his arrival from Rennes 11 years ago, but last season he lost his place to Thibaut Courtois.

As a result he has agreed to move across London to the Emirates Stadium on a "long-term deal" that is believed to have cost the Gunners around £11m.

According to The Mirror, one Twitter user messaged Cech saying: "Say goodbye to your family for one last time before they go to sleep, you won't be seeing them tomorrow you snake idiot."

A number of other people were also reported to have tweeted expletive-laden posts referring to the Czech stopper's head injury picked up against Stephen Hunt in 2006.

Cech's first competitive game for Arsenal is set to be against Chelsea, as the two sides will meet in this season's Community Shield match at Wembley on August 2.
