Aston Villa players Brad Guzan and Joleon Lescott have been accused of telling their own fans to "fuck off" during yesterday's 1-1 draw at League Two side Wycombe Wanderers.

The alleged incident happened during the second half of the stalemate, which extended Villa's winless run to 109 days in all competitions, when benched substitutes Guzan and Lescott had a competition to see who could spit chewing gum closest to the touchline.

An eyewitness reported to the Vital Football fansite: "I object to two senior players spending 90 minutes laughing and joking on the bench and littering the pitch with their chewing in some sort of childish game.

"The guy next to me knocked on the dugout, they both turned round, we said they were disgraceful and obviously didn't care. With that Guzan told him to 'fuck off', I knocked the dugout and told Lescott he is supposed to be Villa to which he replied: 'I am'. He turned away, I knocked the dugout again and said: 'why are you not acting like one?' with which he said: 'fuck off'."

Villa captain Micah Richards approached the travelling fans after the final whistle in an attempt to placate them, although the squad later required a police escort to leave Adams Park.

The Midlands side, who have the second-longest tenure in the top flight of English football, are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, 11 points from safety.
