Simon Clegg: 'European Games closing ceremony will be spectacular'

Chief operating officer Simon Clegg has said that the closing ceremony of the European Games will be "spectacular".

The Games started with a surprise performance by American singer Lady Gaga 15 days ago.

Clegg told reporters: "Preparations for the closing ceremony continue to go extremely well. We are moving towards the closing ceremony, which will be a final spectacular event for those inside the stadium.

"For those downtown on the boulevard, we have large screens for them to capture the excitement."

The Games have featured more than 6000 athletes competing in 20 different sports.
