Eva Carneiro "relieved" to come to Chelsea agreement

Former Chelsea team doctor Eva Carneiro is "relieved" to have reached a settlement with the club over her constructive dismissal claim.

Former Chelsea doctor Eva Carneiro has said that she is "relieved" to have reached a settlement with the club over her constructive dismissal claim.

Dr Carneiro accused former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho of victimisation and discrimination following an incident that occurred in the opening game of the 2015-16 season, which eventually resulted in Carneiro's resignation.

The two parties were involved in an employment tribunal before reaching a "confidential" agreement earlier today.

"I am relieved that today we have been able to conclude this tribunal case. It has been an extremely difficult and distressing time for me and my family and I now look forward to moving forward with my life," read a statement from Carneiro.

"My priority has always been the health and safety of the players and fulfilling my duty of care as a doctor. In running onto the pitch to treat a player, who requested medical attention, I was following the rules of the game and fulfilling my medical responsibilities.

"I would like to thank everyone who has supported me including my husband, family and friends and members of the football community."

Carneiro had previously turned down a £1.2m settlement offer from the club.
