Graeme Swann under fire over Facebook comment

England cricketer Graeme Swann comes under fire after comparing England's Ashes defeat to Australia to a raping.

England cricketer Graeme Swann has been criticised by a sexual abuse charity after comparing his country's recent Ashes defeat to Australia to a raping.

The spin bowler made the comment on Facebook in response to a post by his brother Alec about attending an indie music concert.

"Rather have been there than being a*** raped in Perth," he wrote, adding that he is looking forward to "12 pints and a game of darts."

The remarks have been met with uproar from Rape Crisis chief executive Yvonne Traynor, who said that her organisation is "appalled" by Swann's comparison and insists he should apologise.

"It is the duty of a people in the public eye to make sure that their own distorted views are kept to themselves and not shared with the general public. We are appalled that he equates a cricket match with rape," she said in a statement.

"He should apologise to anyone who has suffered from this heinous crime."

Australia reclaimed The Ashes this week after England lost the third Test by 150 runs.
