London Tube strike called off ahead of England World Cup qualifier

A planned Tube strike that would have coincided with England versus Slovenia is called off.

A Tube strike that would have coincided with England's World Cup qualifier against Slovenia has been called off.

Three Lions fans planning to attend the game can make their way to Wembley Stadium via the London Underground as normal, but measures to help them reach the ground in light of the planned industrial action will remain in place.

These will include extra busses on the local routes to and from the arena, a shuttle service for match-ticket holders and an enhanced coach service run by National Express, the Football Association's official transport partner.

"The FA is committed to help as many supporters as possible attend the match," an FA statement read.

"Over the past few days we have been working with TFL and our transport partner National Express to set up a range of transport options to help you get to and from Wembley.

"These additional services will remain in place."

Extra parking spaces will also be opened up around Wembley, and the FA has vowed to refund match tickets for supporter who cannot attend if the industrial action ends up going ahead.
