Suspended UEFA president Michel Platini will be allowed to attend matches at the upcoming Euro 2016 tournament as long as it is not "in any official function".
Theodore Theodoridis, UEFA's acting general secretary, confirmed the news at a press conference on Wednesday but added that he did not expect Platini to attend Friday's opening match between France and Romania in Paris.
"We received a letter today [from FIFA] telling us Michel could attend matches as a person, providing he does not do so in any official function," said Theodoridis.
"This will be transmitted to our executive committee and then they will make a decision probably about an invitation for Michel Platini for the whole of the tournament. As for Friday I do not expect he will be there."
If Platini does attend, it would most likely have to be as a general spectator rather than as a VIP guest with access to hospitality as that could give the wrong impression and violate the order, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Platini is currently serving a four-year ban from footballing-related activity after being found guilty of ethics violations for allegedly taking an unauthorised payment of around £1.4m in 2011.
