Liverpool squad on "bonding trip" to Barca

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has taken his players to Barcelona for a two-day "bonding trip" ahead of their run of festive fixtures.

The Reds flew out to Spain immediately after their surprise 4-3 defeat at Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon, according to the Liverpool Echo, as Klopp was keen on "escaping the freezing temperatures on Merseyside".

The side spent Monday resting ahead of a team meal in the city, while on Tuesday they participated in a training session before being taken to Camp Nou as special guests to watch Barca's emphatic Champions League triumph over Borussia Monchengladbach.

Philippe Coutinho is thought to have decided not to go on the trip as he focuses on extra training in his rehabilitation from an ankle injury.

Klopp is expected to return to the UK with his players today as they prepare to welcome West Ham United to Anfield on Sunday.
