Former England and Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard will see his life portrayed on the big screen by an award-winning director, according to reports.
The 35-year-old, who hinted earlier this week that he is close to calling time on his playing days, has agreed a deal with the man behind documentaries charting the life of Amy Winehouse and Ayrton Senna.
BAFTA-winner Asif Kapadia will focus on Gerrard's 17-year stint at Liverpool, including 2005's memorable comeback win over AC Milan in what is widely considered to be the greatest European Cup final of all time.
Is it claimed by The Sun that former international teammates David Beckham and Wayne Rooney will also appear in the documentary, with a source adding: "Stevie was really impressed with Asif's work after seeing Amy. Stevie's story is not just one for the Liverpool fans but sports fans the world over."
Filming is expected to begin in the summer, after Kapadia releases another documentary charting the success of Brit band Oasis.
