Sir Bobby Charlton to attend Munich air disaster tribute in Germany

Sir Bobby Charlton will reportedly represent Manchester United at the unveiling of a tribute to the victims of the Munich air disaster at the Allianz Arena today.

Sir Bobby Charlton will reportedly represent Manchester United at a tribute exhibition for the victims of the Munich air disaster at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena today.

Twenty-three people, including eight United players, died in a plane crash on February 6, 1958 when the aircraft failed to take off due to the icy conditions on the runway in Germany.

Charlton is one of just two survivors from the crash, which occurred after United's European tie against Red Star Belgrade.

According to The Telegraph, to mark the 57th anniversary of the tragedy, Charlton will be joined by Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge at a ceremony to unveil the tribute at the Bundesliga club's museum.

In Manchester, fans will attend a ceremony at Old Trafford where a minute's silence will be held at 3.04pm, which is the time of the crash.
