A Manchester United supporter has been banned from attending away matches after he was caught carrying a can of beer in his bag.

Jamie Bazley revealed on Twitter that the current Premier League champions sent him a letter stating that he is banned 'indefinitely' from away trips.

Police cautioned the supporter when they found an unopened can of Stella Artois in his bag while entering St James' Park before United's 4-0 victory over Newcastle United in April.

The fan tweeted: "This is how a club treats you after spending all your money following them?? They can get to fuck now #Cunts."

Bazley also insisted that he made a mistake and denied accusations from the authorities that he had drunk beer on his train journey to the game.
