Cristiano Ronaldo: 'I still can't understand Sir Alex Ferguson's Scottish accent'

Cristiano Ronaldo admits that he still struggles to understand his former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson because of his strong Scottish accent.

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that he still struggles to understand the Scottish accent of his former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Portuguese footballer, who has won three Ballons d'Or' in his career so far, was signed by Ferguson from Sporting Lisbon at 19 years of age.

Ronaldo went on to win nine trophies, including three Premier League titles and the Champions League, during his six-year spell at United.

Despite spending a large chunk of his career working under Ferguson, Ronaldo never managed to grasp the Scotsman's accent.

"I still don't understand him!" Ronaldo said on The Jonathan Ross Show. "In the beginning, I had a translator, a Brazilian man, of course, basically only for him."

Ronaldo left United in 2009 to join Madrid in a then-world record fee of £80m.
