Wayne Rooney's wife Coleen admits to having "ups and downs" with the footballer

The wife of Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has admitted that the couple have had many "ups and downs" during their 13-year relationship.

Coleen Rooney, who began dating the footballer when the pair were 16 years old, was forced to endure rumours in 2010 that the England international had had a threesome with a prostitute.

Six years previous, Rooney, who is the father to Coleen's sons Kai, five, and one-year-old Klay, made a public apology after he was caught visiting a brothel.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Coleen opened up about about her marriage by saying: "It's just about being as strong individually as we are together and that's all that can happen in a relationship. Also now that we have two kids, we make sure that we have time together."

The couple got married in 2008.
