Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has put his acting skills to the test in a promotional ad for new film X-Men: Apocalypse.

In the clip, Professor X tells his team that they need Rooney to help them in their fight against the apocalypse.

Goalkeeper David de Gea and striker Anthony Martial were not deemed good enough for the X-Men, but Rooney looked less than comfortable when called upon.

United are linked to the movie due to their commercial partnership with 20th Century Fox.
