Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he is 'loving' the company of his pet bulldog Roscoe while competing in the Formula 1 season.

The 28-year-old was granted permission by F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone to take his pet into the paddock for races, the first of which is for this Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix.

"It's great having him with me," Hamilton wrote in his BBC Sport column. "He is so much fun. I've got really attached to him really quickly, as you'll know if you've been following me on Twitter.

"We've had dogs in the family since I was born. What I love about them is how loyal they are. No matter what kind of day you're having, they are always there, always loving, and always happy to see you. My dog follows me everywhere."

Meanwhile, Hamilton clocked the sixth-fastest time in the first practice session in Barcelona.
