A Newcastle United supporter was reportedly left red faced after attending his side's match against Burnley three days early.
Football writer Simon Hughes wrote on Twitter that the fan in question arrived at Turf Moor on Saturday wearing his Newcastle shirt and scarf.
However, the Magpies' trip to Burnley is scheduled for Tuesday night rather than at the weekend, when Alan Pardew and his side suffered a 1-0 defeat to West Ham United at Upton Park.
After spotting the fan ahead of Burnley's match against Aston Villa, Hughes tweeted: "Oh no. He's just returned to his car holding the expression of a man informed that his dog's been run over.
"The unfortunate supporter proceeded to strip his person of anything linking him to Newcastle. The embarrassment will be etched on his soul."
The North-East outfit are ninth in the Premier League table after 13 games.
