US Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas 'never expected' rise to fame

US gymnast Gabby Douglas has revealed that she is surprised by the amount of attention that she has received following her success at London 2012.

The 16-year-old became the first African American gymnast to win the individual all-around gold medal, putting her in high demand in the States.

"In my dreams I didn't think about how many shows I would be on and how many people would tweet me. It's so cool,' Douglas told Essence.

The American teen won the Sportswoman of the Year award last month.
