Footballers 'could be victims of jewel heist'

A number of the UK's Premier League footballers could reportedly be among the victims of the Hatton Garden jewel heist in central London.

Detectives have revealed that up to 70 deposit boxes at the store in Holborn were broken into by thieves, who are thought to have abseiled down a lift shaft after breaking in through the roof over the Easter weekend.

According to Sky News, top-flight footballers could be among those who have had millions of pounds' worth of gems swiped from the diamond centre in the country's capital.

Reports have claimed that if footballers are affected, they are likely to be playing for London clubs, but it is believed that others use Hatton Garden when they visit the city.
