IBF light-heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins has claimed that he is an alien from the planet Mars.
The 48-year-old, who has been touted as a possible future opponent for British boxers Carl Froch and Nathan Cleverly, is due to defend his title when he faces Karo Murat in New York on July 13.
"I am an alien," the Daily Mail quotes Hopkins as saying. "No, seriously. I realise that Pluto is no longer a planet now, so I'm from Mars.
"I've definitely retired the 'Executioner'. You will not hear me mention the Executioner. Now, I'm in this world but I'm not of this world. There is no ageing process for me. The breaking news is that I am an alien."
Hopkins won the IBF title by defeating Tavoris Cloud in March.
