Fox Sports, Time Warner fight over sponsorship for David Beckham's MLS club?

Fox Sports and Time Warner Cable are reportedly battling to become sponsors for David Beckham's planned MLS team.

US broadcasting giants Fox Sports and Time Warner Cable are reportedly vying for a lucrative sponsorship deal with David Beckham's planned MLS club.

The retired footballer is said to be working towards creating a franchise in Miami, but before a team has even come together, both multi-media corporations are desperate to be involved.

The Daily Star quotes a senior executive at Time Warner as saying: "We want to tie down a broadcast deal that would also involve a major sponsorship role in David's team similar to ones we have with, for example, the LA Lakers basketball team."

The reported £500m battle is said to include securing the rights to televise all of the team's home games.
