Soft drink giants Pepsi have reportedly been forced to apologise for creating anti-Cristiano Ronaldo adverts in Sweden.
The campaign in Sweden was created ahead of their decisive World Cup playoff against Portugal, which eventually resulted in Ronaldo's nation booking their place in Brazil with a 3-0 win last night.
The Swedish Pepsi ads contained images of Ronaldo as a voodoo doll in various scenarios - one displayed the doll with a crushed Pepsi can over his head, another had it tied to train tracks, while one featured it covered in pins.
According to 101greatgoals.com, following a backlash from Portuguese fans, Pepsi released an apology saying: "We would never want to put the sport or the spirit of competition in a negative light.
"We regret if people were offended by the posts; they were immediately taken down. We would like to extend our apologies to all concerned."
Ronaldo netted a hat-trick against Sweden last night.
