Daniele de Rossi "would have committed suicide" at Manchester United

Roma midfielder Daniele de Rossi says that he would have committed suicide if he had joined Manchester United last summer.

Daniele de Rossi has said that he would have "committed suicide" if he had joined Manchester United during the summer.

The midfielder had been linked with a move to Old Trafford during the previous transfer window, but remained with Serie A side Roma instead.

The 30-year-old told Carriere dello Sport: "It was a good thing that I didn't go to Manchester, now I would have committed suicide.

"Last summer I didn't feel comfortable, I didn't recognise myself in the relationship with my teammates and with the fans."

Roma sit second in the Italian top flight, while United are seventh in the Premier League table.
