Ex-Southampton abuser 'still active in football'

One of the men accused of sexually assaulting young footballers is said to be still active in the sport.

One of the men accused of sexually abusing young footballers while working at Southampton in the 1980s is reportedly still active in the game.

According to the BBC, the man in question is now working at a different football club after being asked to leave the Saints when "concerns were raised about his behaviour".

One of his accusers, now in his 40s, says that he was abused by the man between the ages of 14 and 16.

"He tried to assault me in a hotel room. I've sort of blocked it out of my mind. When it happened I just got up before he did anything, I got out of the room," the victim told Radio 4's Today programme.

"I'm angry it's happening now and wasn't sorted out years ago. There's lots of failures in the system and he needs to be held accountable and he's scarred me.

"I've been offered money to talk about this but I don't want money, I just want him behind bars."

A spokesperson for Southampton said that the club had contacted police after being made aware of historical allegations against a former employee.
