Former Premier League winger David Ginola reportedly underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery this morning after collapsing during a football match in Monaco.
There have been conflicting reports over the state of the Frenchman's health, with some claiming that he suffered a suspected heart attack.
The 49-year-old has played down the severity of his collapse with a series of tweets, but according to French newspaper Nice-Matin, the ex-footballer underwent a five-hour operation earlier today.
A source told the paper that the former Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United winger was lucky to receive quick treatment because the state of his health is "extremely serious".
On his official Twitter page, Ginola blamed his collapse on the high temperatures in Monaco.
