FIFA affiliate Ray Whelan returns to Britain after World Cup arrest in Brazil

British chief executive of FIFA affiliate Match Hospitality Ray Whelan returns from Brazil after being arrested there in July on ticket touting charges.

Ray Whelan, the British chief executive of FIFA affiliate Match Hospitality, has finally returned from Brazil after being arrested there in July on ticket touting charges.

Whelan was bailed from Brazil's notorious Bangu prison in August, and, according to Inside The Games, he will be allowed to return to Britain for three months before appearing in a Brazilian court in 2015 to try to clear his name.

Brazilian national television showed videos purporting to show Whelan discussing tickets with Lamine Fofana, a French-Algerian thought to be the leader of the ticket touting ring.

However, accusations that Whelan had over 500 conversations with Fofana have now been changed to just five meetings.
