Workers at World Cup stadium in Brazil 'go on strike'

A number of builders reportedly go on strike at the Itaquerao Arena in Brazil following the death of a workman ahead of the World Cup.

A number of builders working on the Itaquerao Arena in Brazil have reportedly gone on strike just two months before the World Cup.

Workers at the unfinished Sao Paulo ground are said to be furious following the death of Fabio Hamilton da Cruz, who fell from around 26 feet while installing seats.

According to the Daily Star, the builders have stopped working in protest, which has organisers worried that the ground may not be completed in time for the June 12 kickoff.

The Itaquerao is one of six grounds that did not reach the FIFA 2013 completion deadline.
