Sunday's meeting at Leicester should go ahead

Clerk of the course at Leicester Jimmy Stevenson says that this afternoon's six-card meet should go ahead despite below-freezing temperatures in the East Midlands overnight.

This afternoon's meeting at Leicester should go ahead, but the course will need a third inspection at 11.30am.

Temperatures plunged to minus seven degrees celsius overnight in the East Midlands but clerk of the course Jimmy Stevenson is confident the six-race card will go ahead.

He said: "It's coming on nicely, we just need another hour. We've got a problem on the road crossings - the frost got under the covers - but we are hopeful.

"We've walked the track and we can't find anything that is really worrying us."

There have already been two inspections at the course this morning.
