Last year's 2000 Guineas and dual Derby winner Camelot has been retired to stud, owners Coolmore have announced.
The Aidan O'Brien-trained four-year-old struggled to repeat his impressive displays of 2012 this year, winning one of his three starts at the Curragh.
Camelot had been preparing for the Breeders' Cup Turf next month but was found to be lame this morning.
"From the very first time we saw him at the sales we just loved him," O'Brien told Coolmore.com.
"He was the perfect racehorse, a beautiful horse with a terrific action. Speed, class and a super-intelligent horse to go with it - he had it all."
Camelot's stud fee is yet to be announced.
