Jockey Brian Toomey has suffered a "life-threatening" head injury from falling during a race at the Perth Festival.
A spokesman from the NHS Tayside has confirmed to BBC Sport the severity of the rider's injury, which was suffered while partnering Solway Dandy.
Toomey was transported to Dundee's Ninewells Hospital after the incident occurred during the Conditional Jockeys' Hanicap Hurdle.
Champion jockey AP McCoy wrote on Twitter: "Thoughts and prayers are with Brian Toomey who had a very serious fall at Perth lets hope he will be ok."
Toomey is linked with the yard of North Yorkshire trainer Kevin Ryan.
