Wakefield Wildcats beat Castleford Tigers 32-26 at the Etihad Stadium as part of the Super League's Magic Weekend.

Castleford took an early lead after two minutes when Jordan Thompson scored the first try of the game, which was then followed by a goal from Kirk Dixon to make it 6-0.

Wakefield hit back on 13 minutes through a try from Vince Mellars before Paul Sykes hit the goal a minute later.

On 16 minutes, Wakefield went ahead thanks to a Richie Mathers try, with Paul Sykes on target again afterwards.

Castleford put an end to Wakefield's period of dominance through a try from Stuart Jones on 20 minutes.

Steve Southern restored a healthy advantage for Wakefield on 29 minutes with Sykes hitting his third goal of the game on 30 minutes.

Castleford eased their way back into the game once more on 34 minutes with a try from Nick Youngquest and goal from Dixon.

A try from Danny Washbrook restored Wakefield's control again as Castleford struggled to keep out the Yorkshire side, with Sykes converting again a minute later.

Castleford pulled it back once more with a try from Oliver Holmes just before half time.

The sides went in at half time with the scores at 24-20.

Wakefield made it 28-20 after the restart with a try from Peter Fox following a mistake from Castleford.

A try and kick from Danny Orr on 69 minutes brought Castleford right back into game, with the scores at 28-26 with 10 minutes left.

Wakefield's Tim Smith scored a try in the last minutes of the game to put an end to the nerves and make it 32-26.
