A penalty late in the first half saw Wigan ahead by two points at half time, following tries from Ryan Hall and Liam Farrell.

A strong spell from the home side after the break resulted in scores from Joel Moon and Jamie Jones-Buchanan, but the Warriors fought back, reducing Leeds's advantage to four points.

Wigan, who were without reigning Man of Steel Sam Tomkins through injury, finished the match strongly, but could not level the scores.

Salford City Reds were thrashed at home by Warrington Wolves, conceding eight tries to their opponents.

A first-half brace from Chris Riley, as well as tries from Ryan Atkins and Richie Myler, gave Wolves a comfortable 22-0 lead at half time.

The visitors continued to score freely in the second period, Myler and Atkins adding their second tries of the game alongside efforts from Joel Monas and Brett Hodgson.

A hat-trick of tries from Jonny Lomax helped St Helens to an easy win over Wakefield Trinity Wildcats this evening.

The home side scored four tries in the opening 40 minutes, including two from Jordan Turner, giving the Saints a 10-point lead at the break.

Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Tommy Makinson and Lomax were on the score board in the second half to extend St Helens' lead, while Wakefield saw lots of possession, but were unable to make an impact on their opponents' advantage.

This evening's results leave Wigan second in the Super League table, while St Helens climb to fourth.
