Salford City Reds have claimed a 34-30 Super League victory in a thrilling encounter with Castleford Tigers.

The two sides traded tries early on, with Nathan Massey's score being cancelled out by Matty Ashurst.

Justin Carney and Adam Milner both touched down in the space of three minutes to give Castleford a clear advantage, but replies from Danny Williams and Andrew Dixon ensured that Salford kept pace with their rivals.

The points continued to flow following the interval, with Vic Mauro and Oliver Holmes both scoring tries for either side that were eventually converted.

Theo Fages put Salford ahead with a try in the 47th minute but scores from Jamie Ellis and Jordan Thompson gave Castleford a slender leas heading into the final stages.

However, Ryan McGoldrick broke through in the 72nd minute to touch down and snatch a dramatic victory for Salford.
