Joel Monaghan scores hat-trick in big Warrington Wolves victory over Dragons

Warrington Wolves thrash Catalans Dragons in the sides' Super 8s clash, scoring nine tries in a 48-6 victory, including a hat-trick from Joel Monaghan.

Joel Monaghan scored a hat-trick of tries as Warrington Wolves thrashed Catalans Dragons 48-0 in their Super 8s encounter this afternoon.

Monaghan went over the line twice in the opening 25 minutes, sandwiched by a Ryan Atkins try, with Chris Sandow only able to convert Atkins's effort.

Wolves youngster Jack Johnson added a fourth try, converted by Sandow, before Ben Currie raced over late in the half with Sandow again adding the extra two points from the boot.

Atkins got on the scoreboard again early in the second half, before Monaghan added his third of the day, Sandow converting the latter try.

Johnson added his second score towards the close of the game, before Richie Myler scored the side's eighth try 10 minutes from full time.

Monaghan converted Johnson's try while prop Asatosi's boot made it 48-0 after Myler touched down.

Catalans got a consolation score through Stanislas Robin, converted by Scott Dureau, but it was too little too late for the French outfit as Wolves ran out comfortable 48-6 victors.
