Late Jordan Turner try sends St Helens top of Super League table

Ben Turner crosses over one minute from time to earn St Helens a slender 20-14 victory over Warrington Wolves, which sends them to the top of the Super League table.

St Helens have climbed to the top of the Super League table, courtesy of a thrilling 20-14 victory over Warrington Wolves.

The Saints left it late to see off a determined home side, with Jordan Turner crossing over in the dying stages to win the contest.

Prior to that, both teams had taken a share of the lead, as James Roby opened the scoring for the visitors before Luke Walsh successfully kicked over a penalty.

Ben Currie managed to cross over for a Warrington side looking to make it four wins on the bounce, and buoyed by that they pushed on in the second half and grabbed a foothold in the contest for the first time.

Five minutes after the restart Kevin Penny found the whitewash, but Mose Masoe's barnstorming run put the champions back on their way to a vital victory.

That all looked to have changed when Gareth O'Brien split the sticks with his kick just five minutes from time, yet the Saints showed huge character to bounce back at the death through Turner's try to win it.
