St Helens 12-22 Warrington Wolves

Warrington Wolves defeat St Helens comfortably in a low-scoring game at Langtree Park.

Warrington Wolves comfortably overcame St Helens in a low-scoring game at Langtree Park this evening.

In a frantic opening 10 minutes Warrington scored two tries through Brett Hodgson and then Chris Hill, the second converted by Hodgson.

St Helens pulled the score back to 10-6 on 19 minutes, when a try scored by Michael Shenton was converted by Tom Makinson. That was to be the final score of the opening half, the teams going in at 10-6.

The second half started the same way as the first, Warrington's Trent Waterhouse going over inside three minutes, with Hodgson adding the kick to take Wolves into a 16-6 lead.

Twenty minutes after the previous try, Chris Riley added another four points for Warrington, which turned into six after another Hodgson kick, securing the result for the away team.

St Helens got their first points since the 19th minute with five left to play as Paul Wellens scored a try which was converted by Makinson.

However, it was too little too late as Wolves held on for a 22-12 victory.
